40 to 2: one dart if it's even
The bogey numbers
Seven scores of 170 or less can't be finished with three darts when you have to finish on a double: 169, 168, 166, 165, 163, 162, 159. The highest finish is 170 (T20 T20 Bull), and the only scores between 159 and 170 you can check out are 160, 161, 164, 167 and 170. If you're stuck on a bogey number, use the visit to leave a finish: from 169, for example, T20 leaves 109 (T20 17 D16).
How the chart picks a route
Fewest darts first, then the route that ends on a double players like to be left on: D16 and D20 first, then D8, D12 and the rest. These are the same suggestions the Darts Scorekeeper app shows during a game. Many players have their own favourites for some scores (99 as T19 10 D16, for example); any route that adds up and ends on a double is a good one.
Questions
What is a bogey number in darts?
A score of 170 or less that can't be finished with three darts under double-out rules. There are seven: 169, 168, 166, 165, 163, 162, 159. If you're on one, score enough to leave yourself a finish for next time.
What is the biggest two-dart finish?
110, thrown as T20 then Bull. 100 (T20 D20) and 107 (T19 Bull) are common two-dart finishes too.
What can you finish with one dart?
Any even number from 2 to 40 (the doubles, D1 to D20) and 50 (the inner bull).
